Body Found At Fire-Damaged Lounge In Broussard Identified As Lafayette Woman

UPDATE Feb. 20, 2013: Investigators have identified the body found inside the burned remains of the Benchmark Lounge in Broussard.

Lafayette Fire Investigator Alton Trahan says the victim is 42-year-old Kristina Kiplinger of Lafayette.

Trahan says Kiplinger was at the lounge the night before the fire. The cause of the blaze still remains under investigation.

Feb. 18, 2013: Officials with the Lafayette Sheriff’s department found a body inside The Benchmark Lounge on Tubing Road in Broussard on Saturday.

The body was found in the building after a fire broke out Saturday morning. Neither the cause of the fire or the cause of the person’s death have been determined at this time. Universal Starters and Alternators also received minor damage from the fire.
