ANGOLA, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Penitentiary officers have recovered the body of a man from the Mississippi River.

West Feliciana Parish sheriff's Lt. Brian Spillman said the body was pulled Thursday from the river near its west bank.

Authorities said the captain of the Angola ferry reported seeing the body of a man floating face-down in the water about 6 p.m.
