Lafayette Parish Waterworks District North has issued a boil advisory due to a waterline break caused by a lightning strike.

Customers affected by this advisory 500 block of Brasseaux Rd to the I-49 service road including Ramsey Drive, Posey Drive, Brice Street, Martin-Prejean Road, and Patin Road as well as customers residing north of Brasseaux Rd along La. Hwy 182, Elephant Walk Boulevard, Tusk Circle, Safari Circle, Trunk Lane, Craftsman Road and all of Froeba Estates. Anyone in this area that has lost water pressure due to this waterline break is included in this advisory.

A loss of water pressure and the potential for contaminants having entered the water system due to a broken distribution line has required that the waterline in your area be shut down to make the necessary repairs.

It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:

Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.)

Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.

Customers will be notified when the Boil Advisory has been rescinded.
