Even with uncertainty in the economic outlook of the oil and gas industry, a local oil energy company is helping out Acadiana youngsters in a big way.

The Boys and Girls Club of Acadiana received a $45,000 donation from Superior Energy Services to assist in operating expenses and adding new facilities.

Chris Martin, chief professional officer of the Boys and Girls Club of Acadiana, said a large sum of the donation will be used to construct a new science, technology, engineering and mathematics lab at the New Iberia Boys and Girls Club location.

Joining Martin for the presentation Monday at the Boys and Girls' Granberry location were: Pat Bernard, senior executive vice president of Global Technology/Subsea, and Spencer Colbert, corporate training and development director.
