The Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Opelousas are hosting their 3rd annual 'Battle of the Badges Home Run Derby' at the end of June.  Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow joined 'Mornings With Ken & Bernie' today and challenged local police and fire departments to participate in an attempt to take the trophy from the Opelousas Police Department.

Only five teams have registered at this point but Gallow said there's plenty of time to round up a team for the event on June 29th and 30th.  The event will feature music and dancing on the 29th at Evangeline Downs and the Home Run Derby on the next day.   Gallow said there will be plenty of food, entertainment and fun for the whole family.  Teams can register by calling 337-948-2500.  Registration cost for each team is $150.  Chief Gallow said all the funds raised will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana and specifically the Boys & Girls Club of Opelousas.

Chief Gallow said, "We will have some of the UL softball players on hand to sign autographs and visit with the children and participants."
