Officials with BP say an employee's laptop computer--containing personal
data for thousands of people filing claims for Gulf oil spill damage--
has been lost. BP spokesman Curtis Thomas says the laptop was misplaced
during routine business travel on or about March 1st.  Thomas says the laptop contained information on some 13-thousand BP oil spill claimants in Louisiana, who filed claims before the Gulf Coast
Claims Facility took over the process in August. He says BP is acting to
assist those persons to head off any possible identity theft which may
result.  Thomas says every possible lead is being followed to try to recover the
lost laptop, with the sensitive data intact.  Offciials with BP say an employee's laptop computer--containing personal data for thousands of people filing claims for Gulf oil spill damage--
