Researchers at Universities in Louisiana, Texas, Florida and Mississippi will be getting over $100 million to study BP's catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative set aside $112 million after BP gave them $500 million to study the disaster. Tulane University and the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium will each represent Louisiana with their own research projects, while 6 other projects will be split among the 3 other Gulf states.
