BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A Baton Rouge police officer is on administrative leave after allegedly getting into a fight at the Varsity Theatre near LSU.

Officer Taylor DeRousselle is accused of punching a Varsity employee in the face on Sept. 7th while off duty. The 24-year-old was booked Tuesday with simple battery, a misdemeanor. WAFB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/16ikIvH) bond was set at $500.

An investigation reveals the business' bouncer saw DeRousselle involved in an argument with an unknown person. The bouncer says he intervened and started escorting DeRouselle out, but before he got to the door, DeRousselle displayed his police department ID and said he could arrest everyone in there.

The bouncer says a few seconds later, DeRousselle punched him.

DeRousselle has been on the force for seven months.
