** UPDATE ** Cause Of Lafayette Warehouse Fire Determined
*** UPDATE ***
Fire investigators determined that the fire was caused by the heat from the welding being performed on the truck inside the workshop. The heat from the welding apparently ignited combustible material on the truck. The fire spread from the vehicle to other combustibles in the workshop. The metal-framed building and its contents sustained heavy fire damage. The fire cause was determined to be an accident.
First respondents were called to the scene of a fire at a business in the 3100 block of Cameron street in Lafayette. Smoke could be seen for miles along I-10 in either direction.Neighbors say the warehouse housed party supply company, Party Central. Lafayette Fire Department Spokesman Alton Trahan says there were also a few small propane tanks that were also stored on the property.
No injuries are reported.
