Police in St. Martin Parish are searching for a suspect wanted on a charge of attempted second degree murder.

According to St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson Maj. Ginny Higgins, deputies were called out Saturday evening at about 6 p.m. to a report of a shooting on George Dupuis Road in Breaux Bridge.

Higgins said there was apparently some type of disturbance between the victim, 26-year-old Abrum Fontenette, and the suspect, 29-year-old Damien Fontenette, during which the older Fontenette shot the younger one.

Abrum was taken to a local hospital, where his condition was unknown.
