New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (shoulder) is expected to start Sunday night at home against the Dallas Cowboys, according to head coach Sean Payton.

"I think he's planning on it, and I think we're planning on starting him based on the workweek and the reps," Payton explained. "He's thrown well. I thought he looked sharp today."

Brees is officially listed as probable, as is a number of Saints.

Safety Jairus Byrd (knee), who has not played since week 5 of last season, is listed as probable, along with cornerback Keenan Lewis (hip), wide receiver Brandin Cooks (ankle), defensive end Cameron Jordan (back) and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (toe).
