Brother Of Ex-Rep Arrested On Traffic Warrant
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The brother of former U.S. Rep. William Jefferson has been arrested after detectives discovered he had an outstanding warrant for a traffic violation in Gretna.
New Orleans police say prior to Archie Jefferson's arrest on Sunday, he refused to submit to further questioning about the recent death of his wife.
Jefferson was transferred to the custody of medical staff at a local hospital after telling police he had a medical issue at the time of his arrest.
Fifty-eight-year-old Sandra Peters Jefferson died early Saturday from blunt force trauma she suffered in an attack early Friday morning at the couple's home.
Archie Jefferson said he discovered his wife lying in a pool of blood in a second-story bedroom.
