Broussard Man Arrested In Stabbing On Verot School Road

27-year-old Blake Meche of Broussard has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on 1 count of Attempted Second Degree Murder after a stabbing Monday in the 200 Block of Verot School Road.

When Lafayette Police responded to the call, they found the female victim on scene suffering from multiple wounds consistent with being cut and stabbed. Officers say Meche, who was on scene, matched the description that was given by a witness.

Investigators say Meche allegedly admitted to “acting on a sudden homicidal and sexual urge.”

Since there is no known connection between Meche and the victim, Lafayette Police believe this incident to be random in nature.

The victim remains hospitalized.
