Next March I will have been married for more than half of my life. I know to my wife Jill, our 27 plus years of married life seems a lot longer. For me the more than quarter of a century has flown by, mainly because I haven't been paying a whole lot of attention. I am a man. I am hard wired through my DNA to not notice a lot of stuff.

It is my right and I come by it honestly. If you don't believe me, here we have video proof. You might think this gentleman in the video is being extremely rude but if you watch for the entire :30 seconds you will understand what an amazingly kind and giving person he is.We guys stick up for each other even if we are total strangers.

The real truth of the matter is I hardly hear half the things Jill says to me. It's not that I am being rude, it is science. It is a proven fact that the tonal qualities of the female voice in direction giving, family update, or plans for the evening mode, actually shut down certain segments of the male brain. It is this uncontrolled shutdown that renders us speechless and unable to form words. That is why we only say uh huh and make grunting noises while you are rattling on like a truck full of empty cans.

It is nature's way of protecting our minds from being filled with inconsequential information like a child's birthday party, your current weight loss issue, and the fact that the house might really be on fire.   Ladies, I know I am not bursting any bubbles or preconceived notions you have about the male of species. We are hard headed, inattentive, and have one thing on our mind. Unless it's football season, then we have that on our minds only during halftime, commercials, and replays.
