Cecilia looks to build off its first district win last week, while Westgate looks to get its first district win of the season as the two teams get ready to do battle tonight at Bulldog Stadium.

Last week, Cecilia (2-4, 1-2) blew past parish rival St. Martinville 47-23 behind five Raymond Calais, Jr. touchdowns. The junior has 1,236 rushing yards on the season to go with his 14 TDs. But, the Bulldogs have shown the ability to pass as well with returning starter QB Landon Roberts having thrown for over 1,000 yards so far. WR Damien Bernard has been his main target, hauling in 13 catches for 314 yards and 6 TDs.

"We've played a lot of games against good teams," Cecilia High School Head Football Coach Terry Martin told theadvertiser.com. "But a lot of our losses were self-inflicted. If we don't have those turnovers and penalties, we win a couple of those games. So we're going to focus on fundamentals and playing sound and disciplined."

Westgate (1-5, 0-3), meanwhile, was on the wrong side of a blowout last week, falling to St. Thomas More 63-13. The Tigers only win of the season came against Franklin 12-6 in Week 2. They are led on offense by RBs Raemon Guidry and Jhamad Allen on the ground, and Gerald Broussard through the air.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Newstalk 96.5 KPEL.
