Burglary At Zoo Of Acadiana – Suspect Dead After Crashing Car

Around 2:05 a.m. today (Wednesday) the Broussard Police Department was called out to a burglary in progress at the Zoo of Acadiana.

Officers arriving on the scene say the suspect got into his car and took off at a high rate of speed.

Broussard Police chased the suspect, but were unable to catch up with him right away.

A short time later, Broussard Police got a report of a traffic crash in the 500 block of East Main Street.  What they found was the suspect’s car had been driven through a wooded area, hit some trees and the car was on fire.

Broussard Police called emergency responders who took the man to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
