Burglary Suspect Arrested At Southern Scrap In Scott

On Monday May 27 Scott Police were called out to Southern Scrap at 4802 Cameron Street after someone reported that a burglary was in progress at the business.

The first responding officer saw a man wearing a gray t-shirt and pajama pants walking inside of the secured area of the business.  The man was carrying a large brown canvas bag.

Officers say they were able to talk with the suspect, John Senegal of Lafayette, who said that "times are hard" and that he needed extra money.

The canvas bag of metal scraps was found near where Senegal had made his entry into the fenced in yard.

He was taken to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and booked on a charge of simple burglary.
