Butte Larose Man Charged With Drunk Driving, Passenger In Critical Condition
ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KPEL) -- A Butte Larose man has been arrested following and charged with drunk driving following a crash that has left an 18-year-old woman in critical condition.
According to Maj. Ginny Higgins with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office, 19-year-old Matthew Ortamond was driving on Herman Dupuis Road and lost control, hitting an embankment, driving back into the roadway, and then twice flipping his car.
His passenger, Hailer Arnold of Butte Larose, was ejected from the car.
Ortamond was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center after being treated for his injuries. He's charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, first degree vehicular negligent injury, careless operation, and not wearing a seat belt.
