Louisiana Ragin' Cajun guard Jay Wright has been named to the Lefty Driesell Defensive All-America team, along with 24 other D1 players.

Members of the team all become finalists for the Lefty Driesell Award, given to the nation's best defensive player.

Ragin' Cajun guard Elfrid Payton, currently an NBA rookie with the Orlando Magic, took home the award a season ago.

Wright finished his sophomore season last Thursday, averaging 9.1 points, 3.6 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game.

The Lefty Driesell award is named after the legendary Charles Grice “Lefty” Driesell . As a former head coach, he’s the only man win 100 games at four different Division I schools (Maryland, Davidson, James Madison, Georgia State).
