UL softball pitcher Alex Stewart helped the Cajuns capture the weekend series from Texas State on Sunday, tossing a complete game shutout and a career-high 11 strikeouts, propelling 9th ranked Louisiana to a 4-0 win.

Stewart worked with a lead throughout the game, as Louisiana put 2 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the 1st, courtesy of solo home runs from Haley Hayden and Lexie Elkins.

Six innings later, UL outfielder Shellie Landry added two more runs on a two RBI double.

While the Cajuns dropped game 1 of the weekend series in San Marcos 14-13, they bounced back in a big way, taking game 2 in commanding fashion by the score of 15-2, and shutting out the Bobcats today with more impressive play.

The victory improves Louisiana's record to 27-5 on the season, with a 12-3 mark in Sun Belt play.
