Cajun Reliever Wyatt Marks Named Sun Belt Pitcher Of The Week

Louisiana Ragin' Cajun relief pitcher Wyatt Marks is the Sun Belt Conference pitcher of the week, which comes as no surprise.

Marks, in a new bullpen role this season, has been fantastic, using a fastball and slider to strikeout hitters.

In a 3 game sweep of Arkansas State last week, Marks earned a save and a win, fanning 11 of the 15 batters he faced. Arkansas State head coach Tommy Raffo called Mark's slider “unhittable.”

Marks ranks 1st in the nation in hits allowed per nine innings (3.48), strikeouts per nine innings (14.59) and WHIP (0.70).

“I think it’s a great honor anytime the coaches from your conference recognize you for your accomplishments,” head coach Tony Robichaux said in a University press release. “Wyatt has really thrived in his new role this season with his move to the bullpen. He’s been able to come into games and really attack hitters, and because of that he has been very successful.”
