Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun men’s basketball team is back in action on Saturday night, when coach Bob Marlin’s squad plays host to the Georgia Southern Eagles in a Sun Belt Conference tilt at the Cajundome.

Tip-off time is scheduled for 7:15 pm, and you can hear all the play-by-play action on our sister-station, Hot 107.9 FM & 1079ishot.com, beginning, beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 pm.

The match-up will be the back-end of a women’s/men’s doubleheader, with the UL women taking on Georgia Southern at 5 o’clock.

Louisiana, who is coming off of an 81-70 road win over UT-Arlington Last Saturday, their third-consecutive victory, is 16-12, overall, and 10-7 in league play, while Georgia Southern, who defeated Appalachian St., 77-58, on Thursday, is currently 20-6, overall, and 13-4 in Sun Belt Conference play.

UL currently sits in fourth-place in the Sun Belt Conference standings, while Georgia Southern is tied for the top spot with ULM.

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 78.5/7089, while out-shooting foes from the floor, 46.4%/43.0%, and holding down a 39.7/33.7 rebounding edge.

UL is paced by junior forward Shawn Long, who leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, at 17.4 ppg, and 10.3 rpg, respectively, and senior forward Brian Williams, who is averaging 10.1 points, to go along with 3.7 rebounds a contest.

Louisiana is 10-3 at home this season, including a 5-3 conference home mark.

The Eagles are out-scoring the opposition, 70.9/60.8, while out-shooting foes from the field, 43.0%/39.1%, and holding down a 38.3/35.0 rebounding advantage.

Georgia Southern is paced by senior guard Jelani Hewitt, who is averaging 18.3 points and 4.2 rebounds-per-game, along with junior guard Trent Wiedeman, who is averaging 12.0 points, to go along with 5.8 rebounds a contest.

Georgia Southern won the first meeting between the two squads earlier this year, defeating Louisiana, 78-70, back on January 15 in Statesboro, Georgia.
