Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun men’s basketball team is back in action on Saturday evening, when coach Bob Marlin’s squad plays host to the South Alabama Jaguars at the Cajundome in a key Sun Belt Conference tilt.

Tip-off time is scheduled for approximately 7:15 pm, and you can hear all the play-by-play action on ESPN 1420 and espn1420.com, along with Hot 107.9 and 1079ishot.com, beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 pm.

The game will mark the back-end of a day/night women’s/men’s doubleheader, with the UL women taking on South Alabama at 5 o’clock.

Louisiana, who is coming off of a 78-70 road defeat to Georgia Southern on Thursday night, is 10-6 on the season, and 4-1 in league play, while South Alabama, who fell to Texas St., 82-71, on Thursday night, is currently 4-12, and 2-4, respectively.

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 81.8/71.4, while out-shooting foes from the floor, 48.8%/41.8%, and holding down a 40.1/34.3 rebounding edge.

UL is paced by junior forward Shawn Long, who leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, at 15.6 ppg, and 8.9 rpg, respectively, and senior forward Brian Williams, who is averaging 12.5 points, to go along with 4.3 rebounds a contest.

Louisiana, who is a is perfect 7-0 at home this season, including a 2-0 conference home mark, is opening a three-game homestand.

The Jaguars are being out-scored by the opposition, 73.9/70.1, and out-shot by foes from the field, 45.6%/42.2%, while staying even in the rebounding department, 35.4/35.4.

South Alabama is paced by sophomore guard Ken Williams, who is averaging 13.9 points and 2.1 rebounds-per-game, along with freshman guard Taishaun Johnson, who is averaging 12.9 points, along with 3.6 rebounds a contest.

Louisiana leads all-time series, 25-24, with the two schools splitting the two meetings last year.
