Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun football team returns to the gridiron on Saturday evening, when coach Mark Hudspeth’s squad plays host to the Texas St. Bobcats in the Sun Belt Conference opener for both teams.

The Cajun Harley Davidson Tailgate begins at 4 pm on ESPN 1420 and espn1420.com, with the rest of the network, including Hot 107.9 and 1079ishot.com, joining the broadcast in time for the Hampton Toyota Pregame Show, which will begin at 5 pm.

Kickoff time at Cajun Field is set for 6 o’clock.

Louisiana, who fell on the road last week to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, 43-14, is currently 1-3 on the season, and 0-0 in Sun Belt Conference play.

Offensively, the Cajuns are averaging 26.3 points-per-game, along with 410.5 total yards, 217.0 rushing yards, and 193.5 passing yards, while allowing 33.8 points, 422.5 total yards, 192.5 rushing yards, and 230.0 passing yards.

Louisiana is led by junior running back Elijah McGuire, who has compiled 415 yards, along with 6 touchdowns, on 69 carries.

Texas St., who was idle last week, will head into the match-up at 1-3.

Offensively, the Bulldogs are averaging 35.8 points, along with 485.3 total yards, 207.0 rushing yards, and 278.3 passing yards a contest, while allowing 49.5 points, 585.0 total yards, 337.3 passing yards, and 247.8 rushing yards.

Texas St. is paced by junior quarterback Tyler Jones, who has passed for 976 yards and six touchdowns, while rushing for another 282 yards and four scores.

Louisiana leads the all-time series, 2-0, including a 34-10 win over the bobcats a season ago in San Marcos, Texas.
