UPDATE: The 7-year-old boy was an "innocent bystander" who had surgery and is reportedly in stable condition.

Kim Myers with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says they know that another child brought the gun to school.

"It fell out of his backpack and hit the floor, then another child picked it up and that's when it went off and hit the third child," said Myers.
Authorities say they will determine if charges will be brought against the parents of the accused child.
