Caldwell Parish Woman Dies In House Fire

COLUMBIA, La. (AP) — Authorities say an elderly woman died in a house fire in southern Caldwell Parish.

Sheriff's deputies tell The News-Star the fire broke out around 4 p.m. Tuesday in a home south of Columbia.

Detective Tony Childress said several local fire departments, including Kelly, Olla and Grayson responded to the blaze.

Childress says 79-year-old Hattie Dunaway was found dead inside the home.

The cause remains undetermined.

The fire is under investigation by the Caldwell Parish Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal.
