Carencro Man Charged With Eunice Man’s Death In Lafayette

Lafayette Police have now arrested a Carencro man in the death of Michael Darby.  The 24-year-old Eunice man’s body was found Monday afternoon in downtown Lafayette.

Kyle James Toups has been charged with 2nd degree murder in the death of Darby.  Investigators say some sort of disturbance happened between the two of them early Sunday morning.  Toups allegedly stabbed Darby with a knife.

Darby was found dead in some shrubbery next to a law office in the 300 block Polk Street Monday afternoon.

Around 10:00 p.m.Tuesday night, the Beaumont U.S. Marshal’s Violent Offenders Task Force arrested Toups in Newton County, Texas, without incident.  Toups is expected to be extradited back to Louisiana soon.
