Carencro Man Facing Cruelty To Juvenile Charges

CARENCRO, La. (KPEL) -- A Carencro man is facing cruelty charges after he allegedly whipped a 3-year-old child several times.

KATC TV-3 reports that police responded to Women's and Children's Hospital in Lafayette after hospital staff found several lashes on the child's buttocks and private areas.

"Detectives say the mother of the child told them he was in her boyfriend's care when get sustained the injuries," the television station reports.

Twenty-two-year-old Brandon Sayrie admitted to whipping the child with a belt five to eight times after he pushed a sibling and urinated in his pants.
