Carencro Woman Pleads Guilty In Son’s Death In 2014 (UPDATED)

Update: 26-year-old Karin Dupuis of Carencro has pleaded guilty to second degree cruelty to a juvenile in the April 2014 death of her son, Carson Dupuis. Our news partners at KATC report Dupuis was sentenced to 20 years, with all but seven years in prison suspended. She will then serve five years probation, according to court documents.

27 year old Bryant Rogers has pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend's infant son. Originally charged with first degree murder of Carson Dupuis he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. 26 year old Karin Dupuis was originally charged with accessory after the fact to first degree murder but that charge was changed to second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.

When deputies investigated the child's death in April of 2014 in Carencro they thought the child died accidentally. It was later found the child had suffered trauma over many areas of his body.

Both Rogers and Dupuis are lodged in the Lafayette Parish Jail.
