Neil Carret of Carencro has been selected as as the Marine Bass Angler of the Year, entitling him to an all-expenses paid trip to the Bassmasters Classic in Tulsa , Oklahoma.

Carret, an Abbeville native and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, will be tasked with driving the Army Bass Anglers' boat, which will lead the opening ceremonies for the tournament.  The 2013 Bassmaster Classic will be held on Grand Lake in Tulsa, Oklahoma, February 22 - 24.  Carret will also get to "rub elbows" with the Elite Pros at the Bassmaster Tournament Dinner.

It will be a great honor to represent the Army Bass Anglers, the best all-military fishing organization in the world . The Army Bass Anglers consists of 12 Pro Staff Anglers and over 100 Coalition Anglers all of whom are active duty or retired U.S. Military from all branches of service.   The group currently fishes Bass Champs on the World Fishing Network, numerous grass roots events and Fishing for Freedom Events to raise awareness for the SUPPORT pillar of the Army Bass Anglers Mission Statement.
