Carencro has plans to create a veterans memorial at City Hall.

Mayor Glenn Brasseaux says a preliminary design of the memorial shows that it will be planned in front of the Carencro City Hall.

The initial plan was created by architect Lynn Guidry.  The plan includes that the memorial would have granite benches, granite wall.  It would also include the etched names of local veterans.

Brasseaux says that the public's help will be needed to make the memorial become a reality.  Members of the public can purchase a brick to help pay for the memorial.

Each brick will be engraved with the name of the veteran that the purchaser's wishes to honor.

The project will not be completed until late Spring 2014. Brasseaux says they wanted to have the projected unveiled this November for Veteran's Day, but it had to be pushed back.
