A state senator has responded to the Casey Anthony verdict in Florida with legislation to stiffen penalties on parents who don't report a missing child in a timely manner.

Senator A. G. Crowe has drafted a bill for the 2012 session which makes failure to report the death of a child and communication of false information regarding a missing child a felony offense.  If passed, offenders would serve up to 20 years in prison.
