Cecilia Woman Booked For Manslaughter Following Domestic Dispute

A Cecilia woman is behind bars for manslaughter following a domestic dispute occurring early Sunday morning.

St. Martin Parish Sheriff's spokesperson Maj. Ginny Higgins reported 32-year-old Sophia Benefield was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center after deputies found 38-year-old Jason Stanley stabbed to death.

Deputies responded to a 911 call at a residence in the 1000 block of Anse Broussard Highway in Cecilia around 2 o'clock Sunday morning.

Investigators charged Benefield with manslaughter following the initial investigation.

Bond has not been set at this time.
