Join the Bayou Vermilion District (BVD) as they celebrate Earth Day on Sunday, April 17 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

BVD will be bringing various organizations to Vermilionville in an effort to raise awareness and inspire appreciation for our planet Earth.  Earth Day will be open to the public free of admission, thanks to Cox Communications' sponsorship.

The BVD will be host for a day to various community organizations and businesses ready to share their knowledge of environmentally-related issues as well as provide fun activities for all ages. Attendees can experience a canoe paddle in Vermilionville’s Petit Bayou or a guided boat tour on the Bayou Vermilion, a cheese cooking demonstration, a free yoga class, recycled art displays and more. Live music will be provided by Corey Ledet & His Zydeco Band as well as Bonsoir, Catin.
Another component of the Earth Day celebration will be a reduce-reuse-recycle clothes swap. BVD encourages the community to gather any unwanted clothing articles to bring on April 17, either to donate or to trade. All remaining articles of clothing will be donated to a local charity at the end of the day. For a complete list of organizations and businesses participating in the BVD’s Earth Day Celebration as well as a complete list of activities soon to be announced, visit the calendar of events at Vermilionville.org or call (337) 233-4077.
