Lafayette - Lafayette Parish residents stepped up and helped our school system secure $10,000 from the Champions for Kids SIMPLE Giving program held in April and May of this year. Walmart shoppers were on the lookout for purple bins where they dropped off purchased breakfast items. LPSS was one of only four school districts in the country that collected the most breakfast item donations from a single store in. Lafayette Parish will use the funds to assist with summer programming for youth that qualify for the breakfast items.

“This is great news for the students that we serve in the summer months,” said Mary Speyer, Federal Programs Coordinator for LPSS. “The additional resources will assist our district in providing much needed programming for our eligible students.”
