Charenton Woman Dies Dies In Sunday Crash On Highway 87

There was a two car crash on Highway 87 near Franklin Sunday that took the life of 33-year-old Teala M. Bernard of Charenton, who state police say crossed the centerline of the highway.

Bernard's car crashed head on into 26-year-old Roni Landry's car. A passenger in Bernard's car, Aaren Brown of Jeanerette was airlifted to a hospital. Brown is listed in critical condition.

Landry was wearing a seatbelt and was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

State Police say impairment is suspected of being a factor in the crash, and a toxicology sample was taken for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
