Louisiana State Police Troop I Spokesman Brooks David says Louisiana State Police have arrested a man on several charges after they say that man crashed his truck into a car.

The man was arrested for vehicular homicide, driving left of center, having no seat belt and having no driver's license.  The man, an illegal alien, was moderately injured while the man driving the car died at the scene.

State Police started investigating the crash on Highway 13 near Gilbert Road in Evangeline Parish shortly after the crash happened at around 2:20 Sunday morning.

State Police say 31-year-old Arturo Velasquez of Mamou crossed the center line, and his truck hit 31-year-old Dustin Vidrine's car. Vidrine was killed.

KPEL news sources say that Velasquez has been deported before on 07/13/2006, 12/08/2012, and 4/11/2013.

Standard toxicology tests are pending in the case.

There have been 38 fatalities resulting from 37 crashes so far this year.
