Charges Upgraded Against Carencro Man Accused In Hit-And-Run Crash
CARENCRO, La. (KPEL) -- Charges have been upgraded against the man accused in a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a Carencro woman's unborn child.
KATC-TV 3 reported Luis Ortiz now faces a charge of first-degree vehicular negligent injuring.
Chasity Benoit was six-months pregnant when Ortiz, who was driving without his headlights on, crashed into her and then fled the scene.
Ortiz was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, the television station reported.
