The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office continues to make sure that they complete compliance checks on register sex offenders.

Sheriff K.P. Gibson says his officers went to sixteen different addresses to make sure that the registered sex offenders are following all the rules of their sentences.

Registered sex offenders must always keep their current address on file with law enforcement, and they can't move to another location without informing the police.

The Sheriff says the have no violations right now but they will be following up on each of the sixteen individuals to ensure that they are in compliance.

Gibson says,

"The compliance check resulted in no violations at this point, though additional information must be verified. It is our belief that the offenders know that we are serious about their following the law and that we will be checking on them".

The Sheriff adds that they checked up on offenders in several communities including Rayne, Crowley, Mermentau, Morse and Esterwood.
