'Cheese, glorious cheese, so tantalizing!' sings the classic 1987 commercial above, praising the delicious wonders of cheese.

New research has found that cheese may also help in the battle against cancer and other diseases.

Fox News shared the findings of a new study from the University of Michigan has found that nisin, a food preservative which is naturally produced in dairy products, has the ability to significantly damage both cancerous cells and bacteria resistant to antibiotics. Rats that were given what researchers call a 'nisin milkshake'  destroyed a whopping 70 - 80 % of tumor cells in the head and neck after 9 nine weeks of treatment.
