Like so many young men and women in Acadiana, the youth in the Baton Rouge area have come to the aid of homeowners and business people following the recent flood.

One home affected by the flood in Baton Rouge is the home of Officer Matthew Gerald, who was killed while in the line of duty on July 17th.

Knowing that, several kids from Christian Life Academy came to the aid of Officer Gerald's parents. While there, these young men helped remove damaged materials from the home.

This family has been through so much in recent months, but to see these young men step up and be leaders in their community had to have put a smile on Officer Gerald's parents face.

As I have said On-Air all week long, its times like this that often brings out the best in mankind. The amount of generosity we have seen throughout south Louisiana is amazing, but not surprising.
