UNION CITY, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has taken a victory lap at a charter school -- on the day after cruising to re-election.

Christie visited classrooms at Jose Marti Freshman Academy in Union City today, then held his first press conference since being handed a second term last night.

The 51-year-old governor says he'll continue to push for opportunities for city children to get a good education.

The blunt-talking Republican beat Democrat Barbara Buono by 20 points in the Democratic-leaning state.

Union City is populated predominantly by Hispanics, a group Christie courted in the governor's race and whose support he will need if he runs for president.

An exit poll shows Christie split the Hispanic vote with Buono, but increased his support among Hispanics by double digits from when he ran for governor four years ago.
