BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — State environmental officials say a waste tire transporter from Church Point has been arrested on charges that include forgery, filing false public records and fraud.

A Thursday news release from the Department of Environmental Quality says the alleged crimes involved a program in which a fee is collected from retail tire dealerships for a fund from which waste tire transporters and processors are compensated. Charges include allegations of inflated figures and forgeries on documents.

The release identified the suspect as 57-year-old Majella Green, who was arrested Thursday by investigators with DEQ's criminal investigation division. Information on bond and court dates was not available.
