Cigarette Tax Increase

No new taxes may be Governor Jindal's stance, but Representative Harold Ritchie is nonetheless pushing for an increase in the state tax on tobacco. He announced on the Capitol steps yesterday he's pre-filed legislation that would increase the tax on a pack of cigarettes by 70 cents to a dollar-six.
