Clifton James, ‘Louisiana Sheriff’ from James Bond Movies, Dead At 96 [Videos]
Clifton James, the man who portrayed 'Looziana" sheriff J.W. Pepper in 2 James Bond movies, has passed away. The New York Times reports, James passed away Saturday at his daughter's home in Oregon. He portrayed a prison guard in the legendary Paul Newman film "Cool Hand Luke." James is best known for his portrayal of sheriff J.W. Pepper in 1973's "Live And Let Die," and 1974's "The Man With the golden Gun." In "Live and Let Die," he pursued Bond through Louisiana bayou's, unaware Bond is an agent of the British government. In "The Man With the Golden Gun," they encounter one another by chance while sheriff Pepper is vacationing in Thailand. James reportedly died of complications with diabetes. He was 96.
