Finally, the Cajuns got the timely hit.

Pinch hitter Brenn Conrad delivered a two out two run single in the bottom of the eighth inning as Louisiana rallied to beat South Alabama 3-2 and win game three of their series at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Fiield.

Pinch hitter Kennon Fontenot led off the eighth with a single off Jags' starter Jared Gates (4-3).  Tyler Girouard walked and Stefan Trosclair sacrificed the runners into scoring position against reliever Justin Flores. Kyle Clement struck out but Conrad, batting for Joe Robbins, hit a ball past diving second baseman Matt Bolger for the game winner.

Greg Milhorn (2-1), making his first appearance in a month because of a groin injury, pitched two scoreless innings to get the win.  Dylan Moore allowed one ht in the ninth and picked up his eighth save of the season.

The Jaguars (34-18, 19-8 Sun Belt), got on the board in the third inning against Cajuns' starter Wyatt Marks on a solo home run by Davis Knapp.  South Alabama increased its lead in the fifth when Knapp doubled, moved to third on a Ryan Raspino single and scored on Ben Gann's squeeze bunt to make it 2-0.

The Cajuns (31-19, 15-11) got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Greg Davis doubled inside the third base bag.  Dylan Butler's single scored Davis to make the score 2-1.  Blake Trahan singled to put runners at the corners but Butler was thrown out at the plate on Brian Mills' squeeze attempt to end the Cqjuns' threat.

Gates went seven innings, allowing seven hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out five.

Marks turned in the third consecutive quality start on the weekend by the Cajuns' freshman rotation, allowing eight hits and two runs over six innings.  Marks did not walk a batter and struck out three.

The Cajuns 'freshman quartet of Marks, Moore, Gunner Leger and Evan Guillory did not walk a batter in 23.3 innings.

Louisiana travels to Thibodaux Tuesday night to take on Nicholls State.
