The image of a black locomotive puffing out smoke as it chugs across the great Louisiana prairie is one that's not too commonplace these days. But you only have to drop back in time a few decades or take a short drive to DeQuincy this weekend to feel those memories come alive.

The Louisiana Railroad Days festival is set for this weekend, April 12 through the 14th and like any good Louisiana festival you can count on some great food and drink items. There will also be a lot of great music including a performance by Collin Raye

Raye has had 16 #1 hits and been nominated for CMA or ACM awards on ten different occasions. Among Raye's biggest hits are the songs Love, Me, If I Were You, In This Life, Little Rock, and Not That Different

Raye is set to take the stage at Railroad Days on Saturday evening shortly after 9 PM. Other performers on Saturday night's bill include Gyth Rigdon, and Rusty Metoyer and Zydeco Crush.

Other activities associated with Louisiana Railroad Days include a 5k run, a Railroad Idol contest, a model train show, and more than one parade. The festival grounds will be open on Thursday beginning at 5 and will close at 11 PM that night.

Friday's hours are 1 PM to Midnight, and Saturday the festival grounds will open at 8:30 with music rounding out the day's activities at midnight.
