The company that owns a leaking well in the Gulf of Mexico says they are working now to create a permanent cement plug for the inactive well that started last weekend off of our coast.

Talos Energy LLC of Houston says they are waiting to resume production of the two active wells that are on that same platform.

The company says those two wells were shut in when the leak started on July 9.  At that time, the company was working to permanently plug the well.

Talos President and CEO Tim Duncan that around 420 gallons of light condensate and a bit of natural gas escaped between the start of the incident and Thursday of last week.

He says the condensate, a mixture of oil and water, all evaporated.

A company statement says a temporary plug sealed the well Saturday.
