Congressman Bill Cassidy joined 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' today to discuss the EGO Act which he introduced in Congress last week.

According to Congressman Cassidy,

When somebody serves as a Secretary of a federal agency for eight months then leaves and has an oil painting costing $20,000 painted of himself to hang up in the hallway, you think 'borrow my iPhone' and take a picture.  Why do you need to borrow $20,000 to paint a picture of somebody?

Cassidy says he has actually gotten criticism for proposing this legislation.

One criticism I've gotten is that it's such a small amount of money, why worry about it?  Over the course of an Administration it will amount to $500,000 to a million dollars and you have to think 'why not worry about it?'  This is Washington run amok.

Summing up Congressman Cassidy said,

Can you image two guys at a crawfish boil paying more taxes trying to get us out of debt saying they're willing to do so if it goes to addressing the debt.  Then they find out we're paying $40,000 for an oil painting.

We also discussed insuring women's access to free-market healthcare, Democrats Max Bacchus and Nancy Pelosi.  You can hear those comments and more in the interview:
