Congressman Boustany Eyes Social Security Fraud

7th District Congressman Charles Boustany appeared on 'Mornings With Ken & Bernie' and discussed the National Defense Authorization, Oversight Committee activity, tax legislation and social security fraud.  According to Boustany an investigation was started in May 2011 concerning the use of expired Social Security numbers to defraud the US Government.  Congressman Boustany said,

"we found a number of instances where social security numbers have been basically stolen from the master 'death' file which goes back to the 1930s whereby deceased children's social security numbers have been stolen to perpetrate fraud on the social security system."

Boustany said, "we have moved to close that loophole to prohibit this type of access."
